The Anderson High School Marching Highlanders delivered a captivating performance at the Indiana State Fair Band Day, earning a commendable second-place finish with their dynamic show, "Sea of Scots." Under the direction of Richard Geisler, the ensemble showcased their talent and dedication, narrowly missing the top spot to Muncie Central High School, who clinched the championship with a score of 93.050. The Highlanders achieved a score of 91.488, reflecting their hard work and commitment throughout the season. The "Sea of Scots" performance, inspired by the video game "Sea of Thieves," took the audience on a thrilling journey of pirates in search of treasure, culminating in a dramatic battle with the undead. This creative and engaging show resonated with both judges and spectators alike. Reflecting on the preliminary round, Director Geisler remarked, "I think it was our best run of the season." This sentiment underscores the band's continuous improvement and dedication to excellence. The Marching Highlanders have a storied history at the Indiana State Fair Band Day, with this year marking their 68th appearance—the most of any school in the state. Their legacy includes seven state championships, with the most recent title secured in 2019. As the season concludes, the Anderson community celebrates the Marching Highlanders' achievements and looks forward to their future performances, confident in their continued pursuit of musical excellence.
